BLAZUSIAK & FLANAGAN, First 24MX Leaders of 2018!

The 2018 season got off to a flying start last Saturday at the Tauron Arena in Krakow (Poland). The 11,500 spectators were treated to an excellent show and close racing in both the Prestige and Junior categories!

At the end of this crazy and unpredictable evening of racing, it was the local hero Taddy BLAZUSIAK (PL - KTM) who left with the 24MX Leader Board in the Prestige class. Thanks to his experience, his attacking starts and his consistency (2-2-2), the six-time World Champion will arrive at SachsenArena Riesa (Germany) two points ahead of Cody WEBB (USA - KTM). The Californian was clearly the fastest rider of the event (1-5-1) but a difficult start in the second heat deprived him of the 24MX Leader Plate...
We have to give a special mention to SuperEnduro rookie Billy BOLT (GB - Husqvarna). The young Brit was strong throughout the night in his first participation and even won the second heat (5-1-4), he therefore completed the podium in the Prestige category.

In the Juniors, we had to wait until the end of the evening to discover who would take the 24MX Leader Plate. Indeed, only four points separated Kevin GALLAS (D - Husqvarna), Kyle FLANAGAN (RSA - Yamaha), Emil JUSZCZAK (PL - Sherco) and Oskar KACZMARCZYK (PL - KTM) before the final race. In the end it was the South African FLANAGAN who was able to take the plate by showing more consistency (5-2-3) than his rivals.
Behind him by just one point was EnduroGP rider Matteo CAVALLO (I - Beta) who had a strong first heat and an extremely impressive third heat (3-9-1).
JUSZCZAK completed the podium, and is only 4 points from the top spot. While Kevin GALLAS also remains in the hunt: 4th, 5 points down...

With a level playing field in both categories, this season is already looking exciting ... In Prestige, if BLAZUSIAK resumes his career where he left it a year ago, the competition will be fierce and he will be ready to retain the 24MX Leader Plate. While the reigning World Champion Colton HAAKER (USA - Husqvarna), and Jonny WALKER (GB - KTM), will have to hope for more in Germany if they do not want to be left out of the running...
See you in less than a month; January 6, 2018 at the SachsenArena in Riesa (Germany), for Round 2…which should be intense!
