The first ever Hungarian Grand Prix in the history of the Maxxis FIM SuperEnduro World Championship was a roaring success! The fans showed up in droves and the stars of the discipline gave them a spectacular show!
Let’s take a look back at the fourth round of the season…
First Things First
At the final FIM meeting of the Hungarian Grand Prix, Christian DEJASSE (FIM Referee), Pedro MARIANO (FIM Clerk of the Course), Tom SAGAR (Track Inspector) and Bastien BLANCHARD (ABC Communication) all congratulated Race4U Promotion. Adam HADOBAS and his team made their grand prix premiere in front of 8,000 excitable spectators, and the track was also much appreciated by all the riders... A resounding success, and a taste of things to come in the future?
Scott Best Lap
This fourth race weekend saw Cody WEBB (USA - KTM) once again set the best lap time in the race with 00’33.349, thus winning his second Scott Best Lap in a row. In the Junior class William HOARE (GB - Husqvarna) continues his rapidly expanding collection of awards, also taking another Scott Best Lap with 00'37.698.
Top Track Designer
For the Hungarian GP debut, Adam HADOBAS and his team at Race4U Promotion could count on a pretty special Track Designer in the form of Kornel NEMETH (H)! A former SuperEnduro rider, "Kori" worked hand-in-hand with Tom SAGAR to create this track, which offered up three different winners in the three Prestige finals. It was also highly acclaimed by the majority of the riders, potentially making it the best track of the season.
Achievement Unlocked
“I would very much like to get to the Top 5 tonight, I think it's possible!” These were the words of Diogo VIEIRA (P - Yamaha) at the inaugural Press Conference at the Hungarian Grand Prix. And while he could not quite keep up with Alfredo GOMEZ (E - Husqvarna) and Pol TARRES (E - Husqvarna) he was right in the mix of the Top 5. The Portuguese rider further confirmed the progress he’s made since the beginning of the season. VIEIRA has all the tools to fight with the top riders, and he’s also getting quicker in the Akrapovic Super Pole.
European Class
We simply had to give a mention to the European class! Just a few days before celebrating his 17th birthday, Tom KNIGHT (GB - Gas Gas) got a great early present; winning his first SuperEnduro round! The Brit outpaced Thomas HOSTINSKY (SK - Husqvarna) and Robert SCHARL (D - Husqvarna). In the provisional standings, SCHARL remains leader, but he now has just 10 points over KNIGHT, 12 over Slovakia’s HOSTINSKY and 14 over Frenchman Paul BURY (Beta). Everything is up in the air between these four guys for the season finale which will take place at the Bizkaia Arena in Bilbao on April 6th.
Charity Partnership
Race4U Promotion has a very special partnership with the Budapest Children's Hospital. Adam HADOBAS’ team took care of collecting jerseys autographed by the riders, and he will organise an auction this week. All funds from the sales will go directly to the Children’s Hospital. A wonderful and welcome initiative.
Impressive Progression
Two of the strongest nations in EnduroGP; Italy and France, are rather underrepresented in SuperEnduro... But this weekend, these two countries shone through two young hopefuls of the discipline: Enrico RINALDI (Husqvarna) for Italy and Adrien JACON (KTM) for France. The former, who started the season in the European Cup, continues to progress rapidly since he switched to the Junior class in Germany. RINALDI worked hard and took his first ever podium in Hungary, just ahead of Adrien JACON. The Frenchman, 14th in Poland and unqualified in Germany, has shown decent progression since Madrid, and was close to his first podium. Here’s hoping that the strong results of these two riders might inspire some of their compatriots...
