With the cancellation of the season finale due to the Coronavirus crisis, it is time for us to take stock of the final rankings and praise the 2020 SuperEnduro World Champions.
In Prestige, it is Billy BOLT (GB - Husqvarna) who wins his very first World Title and becomes SuperEnduro Champion after a remarkable season where he impressed everyone with his speed, charisma, and spectacular technique! The 24MX Leader from Spain onwards, the Brit finished 18 points ahead of this year’s Vice-Champion, Taddy BLAZUSIAK (PL - KTM). The Pole, hailed by many as the ‘GOAT’, has proved that he still has what it takes to battle for a title and he will be a very serious contender once again in 2021. We also witnessed a great return to action after a year of absence for Jonny WALKER (GB - KTM). He finishes 2020 in 3rd in front Alfredo GOMEZ (E - Husqvarna). While Blake GUTZEIT (RSA - KTM) rounds out the Top 5. Finally, Pol TARRES (E - Husqvarna), William HOARE (GB - KTM), Kevin GALLAS (D - Husqvarna), Tim APOLLE (D - Sherco) and Emil JUSZCZAK (PL - Beta) complete the Top 10.
Over in the Junior class, we unfortunately did not have the chance to witness what was sure to be an intense fight for the crown. Despite this, the Under 23 category has a brilliant new Champion in the form of Teodor KABAKCHIEV (BG - KTM), and he becomes the first Bulgarian ever to win an FIM World Title in any discipline!
“KABA” will move up next season to rub shoulders with the cream of the crop in Prestige! Leon HENTSCHEL (D - KTM) is the runner-up by just two points, while America’s Ty CULLINS (TM) takes the third step on the final podium. Adrien JACON (F - KTM) and Dominik OLSZOWY (PL - KTM) complete the Top 5!
Despite the fact that the 2020 season ended abruptly due to the Covid-19 outbreak, Billy BOLT and Teodor KABAKCHIEV are two fantastic and deserving Champions who put together great title campaigns. Now we await an even more thrilling 2021 season, which will start at the Atlas Arena in Lodz on December 12 2020.
