BOLT Makes a Break, KABAKCHIEV Takes Over in Junior!

The fourth of the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship was played out at the Papp Laszlo Sportarena in Budapest. And after three hours of very intense racing and surprising developments the standings in both classes have seen big changes. It’s time to take stock of the 24MX Leaders before the final race…

In Prestige, everyone was waiting for Taddy BLAZUSIAK (PL - KTM) to respond after his rival, Billy BOLT (GB - Husqvarna), had a perfect GP in Spain. But it was not to be and the Brit further strengthened his lead over the six-time World Champion. But we know that 18 points is almost nothing in SuperEnduro, and it’s certainly not enough to guarantee the title. The Factory Husqvarna rider will have to go all out in a month and a half’s time in Lodz (Poland) in order to secure his very first World Champion title, but he’ll be faced with a huge crowd who will be backing none other than BLAZUSIAK.
However, in Budapest the only rider to have really troubled BOLT was Jonny WALKER (GB - KTM), who managed to consolidate his place in the Prestige Top 3 in front of Alfredo GOMEZ (E - Husqvarna) and Blake GUTZEIT (RSA - KTM).

Bolt

The Junior class provided some of the most thrilling racing in Hungary, and at the end of the night we had a new 24MX Leader - the third since the start of the season. Bulgaria’s Teodor KABAKCHIEV (BG - KTM) rode superbly and managed a ‘clean sweep’ of wins, placing him two points in the lead! Previous championship leader, Leon HENTSCHEL (D - KTM) was unable to cope with the strength and consistency of the Bulgarian despite putting up a great fight, but the German still has a great chance of the title. Things are looking less promising for Ty CULLINS (USA - TM) as the American struggled throughout the Hungarian GP and now falls 20 points behind the leader! It will certainly be difficult for CULLINS, but it’s never over until it’s over and after his display at the first round of the season he could be capable of a great comeback. Behind this fiery trio, Adrien JACON (F - KTM) picks up the pace in 4th, while Dominik OLSZOWY (PL - KTM) joins the Top 5.

No doubt that the final which will take place at the Atlas Arena in Lodz (Poland) on March 14 will be worth its weight in gold with two proud 24MX Leaders who are still not immune to one of their rivals taking their place!
While BOLT will have to face an Arena packed full of BLAZUSIAK fans, KABAKCHIEV will carry the hopes of an entire nation, who are yet to have a motorcycling World Champion in any discipline!
