Wunderschön Riesa

This is the 9th consecutive time that the MotoZ FIM SuperEnduro World Championship has visited the unmissable Riesa arena. Once again, the German Grand Prix lived up to the expectations of the many fans, of the promoters and organizer. Suspense, twists and turns and hotly contested races offered a spectacle which sets the tone for the 2024 season: this year is an exceptional vintage.

Psycho

Scary moment for BOLT

We are in the middle of the time practice in Riesa, Billy BOLT (GBR-Husqvarna) makes a hazardous landing just after the timing line. His left leg rotates violently, BOLT was in a massive pain. The Englishman remains on the ground for long seconds complaining about his left leg. After seeing the medical staff, the Briton is reassured and decides to run the German event. He suffered to overcome the 3rd round of the season. BOLT used all of  its experience to find the necessary resources and fight at the front of the race. Very skillful with his Husqvarna, he relieves his leg on the various obstacles so as not to put too much pressure on his left side. Despite the pain, the world championship leader managed to win two finals during the evening. He consolidated his place at the top of the general classification. We are still awaiting a diagnosis to know the nature of his possible injuries. Stay tuned to our social networks for an announcement as soon as we have the information.

Mitch BRIGHTMORE rising to power

The 2023 Junior world champion made the cut to the Prestige class this season. For his third race in Prestige, the eldest of the BRIGHTMORE brothers gave a great performance. He finished 4th at the bottom of the podium. He was very convincing all evening, achieving a good 3rd place in the first heat, he then placed 7th and 4th in the other two finals. The young Briton was rather satisfied with his performances: “We found something and I am happy with my results during this first season in Prestige. I need to ride more and gain more experience, I hope this will help me get on the podium as quickly as possible.Mitch still has 4 evenings to try to accomplish this mission. Why not from the next round in Romania, which will be a new territory for all the competitors?

Norbert ZSIGOVITS injury update

The evening ended short, however, for the Hungarian Norbert ZSIGOVITS. The GASGAS rider fell during the timed practice session. Bad luck for him, his motorbike fell on him. Assessment of this anticipated crash, fracture of the middle finger. Norbie was taken to hospital. He underwent surgery which went well. He is already starting his rehabilitation and we hope to see the Hungarian again very quickly, crossing our fingers that he will be recovered for his home round in Budapest on February 3.

Milan SCHMUESER back to business in Junior

After missing the Krakow round, also due to injury, Milan SCHMUESER (GER-Sherco) made his comeback to competition in Riesa. The German suffered most of the evening, but he managed to get on the podium in his home event. Often in good escapes, Milan nevertheless experienced quite a few disappointments with a few crashes which surely deprived him of a better result. But each time, the Sherco boy got up and returned to the fight. Results of the evening: 3rd in the first heat, 4th in the second and 3rd again in the last. On the podium, SCHMUESER still seemed to be suffering from his injuries. He still has work to do to try to catch up with Suff SELLA (ISR-KTM) and Ashton BRIGHTMORE (GBR-GASGAS), the two references in the Junior category. With his absence from Krakow, the German fell to 6th in the class. He is 80 points behind the leader SELLA.

Europe: Xavier LEON SOLE on the roof of Europe

Even if he seemed less dominant than in Krakow, Xavier LEON SOLE (ESP-GASGAS) nevertheless managed to bag a second success in two events contested in the European SuperEnduro Cup. The two local riders Henry STRAUSS (GER-KTM) and especially Max FAUDE (GER-KTM) gave him a hard time to win once again. He also had to deal with the consistency of the Italian Alessandro AZZALINI, once again among the most dangerous riders. AZZA is only 4th in the event, but he remains in contact with the Iberian with 14 points behind. The evening was more complicated for Maciej WIECKOWSKI, only 6th in the German round. The Pole is still 3rd overall, 3 points behind the transalpine rider. This Riesa round was an opportunity for a non-European driver to be able to participate in a round of the European Cup. The North American Dustin MCCARTHY (Beta) came to rub shoulders with the leaders of the discipline. A regular at the American EnduroCross Championship and the HardEnduro World Championship, McCarthy finished 11th for his first participation, all he needs is to join the elite during his next possible participation, well done to him.
