24MX Leaders: BLAZUSIAK Bridges the Gap, CULLINS Confirms!

For the sixth season, the new year started on a high for the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship at the now traditional German Grand Prix held at the SachsenArena in Riesa!

Dominant in Krakow a month ago, Billy BOLT (GB - Husqvarna) arrived in Riesa with a 5-point lead over Taddy BLAZUSIAK (PL - KTM). The Brit has an extremely technical but outlandish riding style, and his enthusiasm got the better of him on Saturday as he placed 4th/2nd/3rd after too many errors. A boon therefore for the Polish factory KTM rider, who signed off on an impeccable hat-trick, his first since 2015.  At the same time, the popular champion also took over the lead in the standings and will therefore be wearing the 24MX Leader Plate coming in to La Coruna in two weeks’ time.
BLAZUSIAK has 11 points ahead of BOLT,  and 30 on the duo holding 3rd place; GOMEZ (E - Husqvarna) and WALKER (GB - KTM)! South Africa’s Blake GUTZEIT (KTM) completes the Top 5, just 2 points ahead of Pol TARRES (E - Husqvarna).

Over in the Junior class, everyone expected to see another big battle between Ty CULLINS (USA - TM), Leon HENTSCHEL (D - Husqvarna) and Teodor KABAKCHIEV (BG - KTM), but it wasn’t to be! The Californian newcomer wiped the floor with his competitors, despite having to work his way through the pack during two of the three races. With such a wide variety of talent in the field, CULLINS was also able to take advantage of the great performances put in by Adrien JACON (KTM), Fabien POIROT (Husqvarna) and Isaac DEVOULX (KTM); gapping his two main rivals who struggled a little on the night. CULLINS therefore confirmed his 24MX Leader Plate, now 15 points ahead of HENTSCHEL. While JACON moves up the order at the expense of KABAKCHIEV, and DEVOULX rounds out the Top 5.

So after two rounds we have already seen a change of the lead in Prestige, which keeps things simmering nicely in the duel between BLAZUSIAK and BOLT. While CULLINS confirms his status as one of the favourites for Junior class glory.
But it’s all still to play for as we head to the Spanish GP, which will take place at the Coliseum da Coruna on Saturday 18 February - where we could see yet more shake-ups in the standings!
