BOLT winner but under pressure

Riesa and the German Grand Prix are two essential destinations of the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship. The tradition was once again respected as the Sachsen Arena once again offered us a spectacular and emotionally charged evening. The leader of the 24MX Red Plate, Billy BOLT, signs a new success. But the Briton had to work hard to win his second Grand Prix of the season.

The Riesa track was once again the source of many emotions during this second round of the 2023 season. Billy BOLT (GBR-Husqvarna) was trapped on numerous occasions. Under pressure from his best enemy Jonny WALKER (GBR-Beta), the championship leader bit the dust on three occasions. In the first round, it was while fighting against WALKER that the Husqvarna official went to taste the sand of the German track. He nevertheless manages to win the first final of the evening ahead of WALKER and Cody WEBB (USA-Sherco). In the second, BOLT crashes into the bridge and lets WALKER slip away to victory. He finished this round behind Polish legend Taddy BLAZUSIAK (GasGas). In the last final of the evening, BOLT still made a mistake at the bridge on the first lap. Relegated to more than fifteen seconds from the leaders, the double world champion will deploy all his assets to overcome his opponents one by one. He regained the lead of the race from Jonny WALKER on the last lap! He won ahead of his compatriot and BLAZUSIAK. Logically, but in pain, BOLT wins the German Grand Prix in front of these same two boys.

In the championship standings, BOLT is 14 points ahead of WALKER and 15 over BLAZUSIAK. Cody WEBB who suffered in Germany remains in the game at 17 lengths from the Briton.

In the Junior classification, Milan SCHMUESER (GER-Sherco) did not have the dream evening he had imagined for his home race. The German driver certainly won the first final of the category but he was closely followed by the BRIGHTMORE family (GBR-GasGas). In the first final it is Ashton who is ahead of Mitch “only” 4th. The eldest straightened out by winning the second final before his little brother won the last final with authority. Ashton BRIGHTMORE is only 16 years old but he won for the first time in his young career in World Junior SuperEnduro. Unsurprisingly, the two boys lead the general classification. Mitch leads by 12 units ahead of Ashton. SCHMUESER remains dangerous at only 13 points behind the leader.

The third round of the world championship is another unmissable stage of the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship: the Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest on February 4, 2023.
